Multi-day Experience: 5 nights and 6 days (Tuesday- Sunday)
This experience is available at different times of the year or can be privately reserved with a minimum of 5 women.
In the United States alone, 42 percent (25 million) of birders identify as women, and even though its common knowledge that women have the buying power, the sport and industry are still male-focused. We are not anti-male, quite the contrary. Men and women have different styles of bird watching. In general, men are more competitive and focused on building their list, while women are more interested in enjoying the overall experience with nature and connecting with kindred spirits. We wanted to create a safe place for women or any person that identifies as a woman of all races, ethnicity, nationalities, and ages to enjoy bird watching in México in a supportive environment.
The Yucátan is home to over 400 species of birds at different times throughout the year, giving us the luxury of viewing migratory, transients, and endemic species every time we go birding!
On this experience, you will walk the shores of the Gulf of México, canoe through mangroves of the Biosphere Reserves, trek the Yucatán jungles and climb the ancient Maya pyramids in search of our feathered friends. As well as explore colonial cities and gorgeous haciendas tucked neatly into nature.
You will also have time to observe and discuss the abundance of flora and fauna that you see along the way.
All-female birders welcome from amateur to expert!!
What to expect: 5 nights, 6 days traveling through Yucatán México experiencing bird watching at its finest, the Mayan culture, and a personal reconnect with some help from Mother Nature. You will ride comfortably in passenger vans and sleep in colonial mansions. You will share a meal with a modern Maya family, participate in a Yucatecan cooking class, and volunteer in our mangrove reforestation program. Be ready to take any other adventures that may come your way!
